Made it out of my deathbed but.....

...I keep relapsing

So many people has this upper respiratory infection thing going on.  My problem was I did not take a day or two to rest and finally I got so bad it put me to bed for 4 days.

Prior to trying to get the bed off of my back we did get some work done on the pole barn.  I helped Papa Bear with this wall framing and that was it.  He has another wall up on the opposite side which I don't have a picture of yet.  He wanted that one wall built to help stiffen things up.

We are going to have to go ahead and start on the second floor framing in order to be able to reach the top or else build some very tall scaffolding.

He got one side ready for the siding.  We will get that wall framed in after the siding goes up here.

What a blessing this was.  This entire load of wood was free!  Stepson is painting some new homes being built at the golf course.  They were throwing away all of this lumber left over from the job so we took the trailer out and loaded up.  It was about as much lumber as we had ordered and paid for!  It is no wonder houses are so overpriced.  We were told there was about 3 times this much but others had claimed it before we got there.

About 10 days ago I started giving the puppies some food soaked in warm water.  They dug into it like little pigs!

This is a photo I took yesterday.  They have gotten much bigger.  They are so fun to watch as they are running around and playing now.  Papa Bear has taken a liking to one of the little black ones so I imagine she may be staying.  He calls her Mean Girl cause she barks and growls...hahahaha so I named her Lindsay...you know as in Lindsay Lohan from Mean Girls.  Hope I haven't scarred her for life!  So I will probably only have to find a home for 2 of them. Two of the little white ones are already spoken for by family members so I will get to see those two grow up!

Almost all of my little seedlings died in the greenhouse.  I forgot to ask Papa Bear to keep an eye on them for water needs.  I am waiting for the next almanac planting day for above ground crops to restart more.  The almanac says the 22nd and 23rd are for root crops.  If I am able I may start on the potatoes tomorrow.   I crawled around in the Eden garden today and plucked weeds that had sprung up from the hay I had spread.  I can't wait until it is a foot deep in wood chips!  I hope all of you who are sick with this mess is feeling better soon.  I'm praying that it passes quickly.  I have a lot to do!

    1. Thanks GS...We have been needing this barn for years. Wish we had enough cash to just have someone to finish it but didn't want to go into debt for it. We are paying as we go. Too bad neighbors no longer do a barn raising! although we did have a neighbor to stop and offer his help.

Papa Bears Lindsay could not possibly be as much of a train wreck as her namesake!..bahahaha

    1. Thanks K..I think it is pretty bad everywhere. A baby at our church is in ICU with RSV. I have only worked a little in the morning while the Marines assistant is here and then I pile up in a chair by him with pillow, blanket and kindle for the afternoon. I am still as weak as a kitten and can't do much.

    1. Thanks Preppy...We are loving that free lumber and may be able to get more in a week or so. Hope I am well enough by then to help load the stuff.

Papa Bear has got a lot of work done on the pole barn last week while I've been piled up in bed. I am so anxious to get out and help him.

    1. Senior...I think this is the worse I have ever has this mess. My little great niece was sick at Thanksgiving and still has a cough from it. I don't cough much during the day but at night it was the worse. I told Papa if I died it would be between the hours of 6 and 10 PM...hahaha Seriously, I did remember if you put Vick's Salve on the bottom of your feet and slip on a pair of socks before bed, it helps tremendously! Hope you are much better real soon as well.

  5. oh Mamma - i am so sorry that you have been this sick! K, above, is right - if you start pushing yourself too hard you will get sick again. and you know my mantra - garlic, ginger, honey and vinegar with the mother in it tea! drink as many cups a day as you can.

in other news, jambaloney and i are very glad that our new house (your barn) is coming along so fine....when should we plan the move date for? bahahahahah! those puppies are sooo gorgeous and i am soooo glad that there are good people in the world, like you and Papa and The Marine, who will care for animals until good homes are found.

oh poor Lindsay. simply by naming her that, i think she might be in for a life of crazy, drink and drugs - bahahahahha! lots of love to you and Papa! give that gorgeous Marine a big hug and kiss for me eh? and make sure to tell him he has 2 naked Canadians that think of him, and pray for him, every. single. day.

    your friend,
    kymber

    1. kymber...I hate being sick and admitting weakness but I just couldn't go any longer. I made me some of my wonderful honey, onion, ginger and garlic syrup which has helped a lot. I have been taking straight shots of vinegar with the mother several times a day...aren't I brave?

You and Jam need to make it here by the second week in March. We have lots of kids (goat babies) that will be coming due! You and Jam can run around the pond nekid...No one could even see you from the house!

Thank you sweetie for the prayers!

I like the name Banshee...hahahha. I should have told kymber and GS she is probably going to need puppy therapy in the future by naming her Lindsay!

  7. Mamma Bear,

I started to comment and then it disappeared. If by chance you received a comment that was not complete, please delete it.

    I'm going to start again......
I'm happy to hear you're starting to feel better. Take it slow, you don't want this stuff coming back. There is so many people sick with this stuff across the country.

This pole barn is looking really good, I love what you and hubby have done so far.

Congratulations on your free wood. It sure does help to have a son working in the construction industry. He is in a good position to find great freebies. This was a great savings for the both of you.

These puppies are adorable, I so wish we could buy one off of you but we just can't have a dog this big in this rental place.

    1. Thanks Sandy. I feel much better today and the cough is getting a wee better. The free lumber is awesome. We probably got close to a thousand dollars worth of material which means we can start buying the siding sooner. I am still hoping my milking room will be finished by the time I need it in late March. Say a prayer for us!

I am not selling the puppies. They are free to good homes and I wish you were able to get one. I cannot vouch for the use of them as farm dogs cause their daddy was a traveling salesman...hahaha If Papa Bear keeps Lindsay she will have to be watched carefully until we make can be sure she doesn't want to eat the other animals! I cannot tell by the looks of them what their father may be.

    1. Rachel...there is one solid white (the runt) and one black with white markings remaining. They are both females. Like I told Sandy, I can't vouch for them being farm dogs. The mother is full blooded GP but no idea about the father.. We are guessing they will be 8 weeks old February 6. The lady I got them from has so much on her mind and I didn't want to keep calling and harassing her about the birthday. Just email me and let me know if you would like one.or want to see them before yoiu make up your mind. I have ordered their shots and wormers from Jeffers. If you would prefer a vet to do it I need to know that as well. .
