Walmart

I still hate the place but I have to give credit where credit is due.

My granddaughter who does not know what she wants to be when she grows up works nights at Walmart.  When the bridges began to ice over during our freeze the road department closed them.  Many employees couldn't get home,  my granddaughter being one of them.  Walmart had them all to pick out a change of clothes, pajamas and toiletries and put them up in a motel overnight.

I know Walmart has the bucks to do this and not hurt their profits one bit but the thing is they didn't have to.

  1. That was nice of the company....just for that, helping your grandchild, I'll swing by the new Wal-mart grocery store and purchase a head of cabbage. We had sleet most all night, here. It's colder than a well diggers butt at present. Guess I go home and build a fire.

    1. Yes it was nice to take care of the employees that way. Saw where sweet wife was enjoying the fire. Hope that cabbage was good. My poor little cabbage froze but hope they recovered.

  2. Mamma - i think most of us have a love-hate relationship with Walmart. but the fact that they did that for their employees - well, it's like you said - they didn't have to but they did. and i agree that no matter what - you give credit where it is due. so kudos to them for taking such good care of their employees.

and i am glad that in these uncertain times, that your granddaughter has a job!

tell The Marine i got another crazy pic coming his way! much love to you and all of yours, Mamma! your friend,

    1. I am thankful she has a job. She changes her mind about college every other day. I sure hope she is not like her Mom and waits until she is in her mid 30's before she decides what she wants to do with her life. I told DD that she was going to be a professional student all her life!

The marine loved Frankie Blue eyes and will look forward to what's coming next!

      Love to you both!

  6. It is nice to hear a positive story about them, and that they cared so much about the employees. That was like with the Chick-Fila restaurants taking meals to people who were stranded on the roadways... pretty awesome stuff.

    1. I did not hear about Chic Filet but they are a great bunch of folks to begin with. It's hard to find something nice to say about Walmart most of the time but I sure am glad they took care of my grandchild! I have to buy a few things today and usually avoid the place like the plaque but I will patronize them a bit today.

  7. I am glad that Wal-Mart chose to do the right thing. I heard on television that Home Depot and Lowes did the same thing in Atlanta, and even let customers stay there overnight. Perhaps my money isn't squandered there ! LOL

  8. You're right, Walmart didn't have to - I wonder how much of this kind of charity is left up to the individual store managers. While we are surrounded by Lowe's, Home Depot and Walmarts, I'd have to go to Vermont for the nearest Chick-A-Fil.

    1. I don't know sig but it was very generous of Walmart. I don't know how far Vermont is from you but hope you get a chance for a Chicken sandwich. They are yumeh! Our pastors son is the manager of one of the Chick Fil A stores near us (still 30 miles away). We patronize it when we can
