Anyone awake?

I'm so sleepy....One of my two pregnant does lost her mucus plug about an hour ago.  She is up and down, pawing and nesting.  She is the doe who has had a difficult labor in the past. It's cold in the barn.  I have been up since 5AM.  Why didn't she do this earlier when it was bright, sunny and 70 degrees?  It's going to be a long night.

  1. Ya I have three surprise lambs in the barn that were not suppose to arrive for another month according to my mother. Kinda cold here tonight but they seem to be doing fine snuggled up with mommy.

    1. Triplets? Is that common with sheep? Bet they are cute. My girl is still just pawing the hay. No signs of active labor. Papa Bear has the camera fixed in the barn so maybe I will hear her when she starts. I'm gonna take a nap!

    2. No apparently Triplets are uncommon and a high risk of losing one. They are cute all black and all male so gonna be chops soon mahahahaha. Apparently my mother believed that ewes wouldn't breed while they were nursing either and she found out she was wrong about that as well. It isn't like she is inexperienced about sheep she has been keeping and breeding them for 20 years or more and says this is the first time she has seen this happen. I told her maybe that particular ewe was just a slut. She wasn't amused :)

  2. Yep, I'm awake too. Had eggs and toast at 0330. I hit the shower in about an hour for work. Good luck with the birth.

  3. I have been up and down all night long and still no kids. I slept on the sofa in the living room where the camera monitor is located which is also near the Marines bedroom. He knew I was there and called to me all night so not much sleep at all. The Marine had better not nap today!

  4. Mamma Bear,

Oh man, I feel for you. Sleep seems to be truly hard to come by lately.
Hopefully your doe will give birth in the light and warmth this morning/afternoon.
