Don't Worry....Bee Happy

After reading for almost a year on the subject, searching Craigs list for hives for sale (never found one),  I finally broke down and ordered 2 bee hives, supplies and bees today.  I should have my hives in a few weeks and the bees will be shipped in April or May depending on the weather.

PioneerPreppy...it is all your fault.....LOL

PP always has the most interesting post about his girls.

When my new toys come in I will post pictures.

    1. HB..not brave here...just want the p[pollination and honey! I don't think I have ever been stung by a honey bee but I am sure that will change dealing with 1000's.

    1. LOL kymber...yes, PP made it look so easy. Are mason bee's the one we call carpenter bee's? I will have to look those up! Good Luck with your bees.....I will look to you for advice as well....I don't know anything other than I want bee's!

  3. YAY BEES!!!

You will never BEE the same. Don't blame me when you get stung however and you WILL get stung.

Also my best piece of advice... Place the hives far enough away from the main outside work area as you can. They are not dangerous but after you do a complete hive inspection they will remember you and be pissy for a few days.

I had to do garden work in my veil last Summer.

    1. PP...I am so excited to finally be getting bee's. Every time I was outside this weekend I was scoping out an area to put the hives when they get here. Still haven't decided but it will be far away from the garden and critter area as we are there a few times a day. We also have to consider Grandson has a four wheeler now and I would not want him riding around the bees.

  4. Used to have a couple hives and really enjoyed them. It's a lot more trouble these days though, with mites and all.

    1. GS...I have read about the mites and the moths. I am hoping the benefits of having bee's will outweigh the trouble that may come.
