Can you believe this?

Wounded Warrior Project rejects gun-owners, gun-dealers, gun-manufacturers.

You can read the entire story on An Ordinary Texan

I did not support Wounded Warrior Project after their statement of not helping any soldier prior to 9-1-1.

In my opinion all veterans who could use support and assistance not provided by the VA should be considered for their "project".

Read the comments below the Texans article.  If some of the comments are true a large portion of the donations are going into their pockets.  If it's true,  shame on them for taking advantage of a bad situation to solicit money the "warriors" are not receiving.

  1. I do a 24 hour blogathon to raise money for a charity every year. I was going to do it for this group until I informed them. Suddenly I have to pay them $100 to just mention their name. I said I can do that. I just wanted to bring attention to the program. It was either the money form me, or don't use their name at all. It was a mess.

So I didn't raise money for them.

    2. Here was their reply when I said that I couldn't pay the fee.

Thank you again for your support of Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).

You do not have to register, however we ask that if the efforts do not get registered that you do not utilize the organization’s name. Part of the registration process is to ensure that efforts uphold our standards and guidelines so that we feel comfortable to allow the use of our name. An option you may want to consider is just saying you are raising funds for Veteran’s organizations/causes instead of specifying the organization. Many of our supporters have had luck doing this and then submitting a one time donation. I hope this info helps!

      Thank you,

      The Community Events Team

My reply was after doing this blogathon for seven years I have never had to pay a charity up front to fundraiser on their behalf. And not using the name of the charity would be akin to fraud. They never replied back.

    3. Phelan...I remember that happening with your blogathon. I read your blog almost every time you post but I have a hard time commenting on it. I have never heard of a charity asking for money up front to use their names. That's crazy.

What makes them such a hypocrite is that a lot of the money raised for them come from gun shows, veteran sponsored gun shoots and a whole lot of other things having to do with firearms.

    4. I removed the word verification from comments. I too have problems with them since they changed it.

They sent me a list of who they would not allow to fund raise for them. No mention of guns, but they did say no alcohol nor politics.

  2. I am majorly suspicious of any large charity organizations. The only one I ever found that I couldn't immediately see was a high dollar job opportunity for someone was Christian Freedom International and I am not really sure about them either.

Sad really that we have come to this.

    1. It is really sad especially the salaries the executives rake to run the organization. Most of them make more than a congressman and we know the congress doesn't do their jobs either....

  3. Since they are a non-profit, I wonder if there are specific organizations they cannot accept donations from or other stuff from. You know the IRS has those hidden tricks and clauses in the tax code. If they do this as a hidden agenda internally, well I don't know what to say, I am shocked if that is the case.

    1. I was shocked as well as I know a lot of the wounder warriors are taken on shoots and hunting trips all sponsored by WWP. I think but I am not absolutely sure there were t-shirts with WWP at the last gun show we attended. It's like the pot calling the kettle black.

  4. I have mentioned before about wanting to volunteer with them, but for some reason I never did. Maybe now I know the reason.
Would perfer just to find a disabled vet living in our neighborhood that could use a hot meal once and a while. Or, his grass cut etc..
