Garden Porn

I received my first seed catalog in the mail yesterday.  I love Baker Creek for varieties I can't get locally and I love that all of their seeds are heirloom, non-hybtid, non- GMO,  non- treated and non-patented.  This years catalog is 212 pages of natural goodness in full color.

I buy what I know grows here in my area from the local feed and seed stores.  They are usually open pollinated and perform well,  but for variety and something different I order from Baker Creek.  If you didn't get a catalog in mail, you can request one for free!  Makes good reading on the long, cold days of winter while we wait on spring.  Do you have a favorite seed company you order from?  Would love to hear about it.

    1. GS..We have a bad problem with deer too and use the deer netting from Lowes around the garden. In the Florida sun it did not last as long as it was supposed to so we have started putting chicken wire in certain areas.

  5. You promised me a recipe on this post.

Bakers Creek also has a magazine they put out quarterly "Heirloom Gardener" that is an excellent read, along with a very informative location where they do a festival each year.

Most of my tomato seeds all came from there.

    1. LOL Preppy...

I saw that magazine on the website. Will have to check it out. I ordered tomato seed from them last year and didn't get a chance to do a trial run on them. I will make sure a few are planted this coming spring.

    2. K...after I thumb through it several times and dog ear corners of what I want to order, the catalog eventually makes it way to the magazine rack in the bathroom. Papa Bear says it makes great reading on the "throne"...hahahahhaha
