Just shoot me.....

Was looking at the extended weather forecast so I could somewhat plan my outdoor chores for next week.  I saw this for next Wednesday.  Are you kidding me?!

  1. Wow, that is hard to believe. Lucky that we have all that global warming going on or things would be really cold!

    1. Ain't that the truth! You know if Gore had started out with climate change instead of global warming we might have swallowed that a tiny bit better. We had snow that actually stuck to the ground in 1988 (I think that was the year). Closed everything down for 2 days. I had horses then, they ran and frolicked in it like little kids!

  2. I was getting ready to comment on how great your new potato rows looked and all the sudden I "Got It". smh..... This winter will go down as one of the weirdest ever. It's hard to believe you guys are forecast for the nasty weather. I'm gently nudging Mars about getting our garden ready to plant. Trouble is he keeps looking at the forecast too! LOL I never thought I'd say this to you but... Stay Warm!!!! hehehehe

    1. Sci...This is for sure the coldest I can remember here in NW Florida. We have freezing temps a lot of times in January but it is usually an hour or two. This time we had over 36 hours of freezing temps a couple of weeks ago and now have snow and sleet in the forecast?!..... I dug a coat out of storage I had bought when I went to Wyoming in 92. Glad now I never donated that coat to Goodwill. I need it!

  5. No! It can't snow in Florida! Old Man Winter has went crazy this year! We have been having temps in the 9 below zero here in West Virginia. It snows and the snow don't melt so when it snows again it is getting really deep. It's fun though! Take a peek at my blog to see some snow pictures.

    1. Angela..It is crazy! I saw your mule pictures before I ran out of bandwidth. My grandchildren were here with all of their electronics and used everything up until the 28th. I can barely read a few blogs and leave comments! I really must password protect my router and dole out bandwidth when they are here.

    1. At least my taters haven't had time to peak out of the ground! I am about to give up on my cabbage and broccoli.

  7. Hey...I live in Florida for a reason....so I don't have to put up with snow like you do! Not fair! Our stores don't sell thick enough clothes and our animals don't get a thick enough winter fur so for these reasons I don't have to put my big girl panties on!...hahahahha

  8. HAHAHA you'll be wishing those big girl panties were thermal underwear soon :)

On the flip side maybe it will kill off some of them big foreign snakes down there.

  9. Mamma Bear,

I'm sorry to hear you're getting our weather. I remember when it snowed in Florida when I was a kid and we lived in Crestview. Stay Warm!!!

    1. It's been 25 years since it's snowed here and stuck. I don't count the little 5 minutes of flurries we sometimes get. Sleet is supposed to move in around 4 PM tomorrow and later turning to snow. Today I am in jeans and t shirt and it's almost 70 degrees. How crazy is that?

  10. I always read the Small Hold blog and I saw that you had posted that you were in NW Florida so I clicked on your name and found your blog. We are in NW Florida too, out in the Blackwater forest. We are raising pigs and doing lots of gardening. Would love to chat with you sometime if possible.

    1. Hi Rachel...Nice to meet you. I assume you are near Milton or P'cola. I am about 1 1/2 to 2 hours from you. We have pigs and goats and used to have a large flock of chickens and turkeys until a pack of wild dogs came in. Raining here now. No ice or snow here yet. You can email me at seed_sprout@yahoo.com and then I'll let you know my real email...hahaha too many spammers looking to fill my mailbox

  11. I have lived in NW Florida off and on for 30 years. I remember one time when I was probably six or eight years old (so say '77-79) when we drove through Crestview and the bank sign showed 0 degrees. So I have seen it colder. I have seen snow a few times but I do not remember one winter where it was so consistently cold (as in below freezing, then 60 - 70 degrees..then below freezing.). It's crazy. Garden doesn't like it. That's for sure.

    1. You are right Keith. Two weeks ago we had over 36 hours of below freezing temps. We had freezing rain all through the night here. There is ice everywhere. For the first time since we built our house I have icicles hanging from the eaves.
